After the giants
A downloadable game for Windows
In a world where giants once walked, the smallest survivors rise.
After the Giants is a narrative-driven survival and base-building game where you play as a lone mouse navigating the haunting ruins of a post-human Earth. With humankind extinct and nature slowly reclaiming steel and concrete, you must scavenge forgotten places, gather lost technologies, and bring hope to a growing community of mice carving out a future in the bones of a broken world.
Forge friendships. Build a society. Uncover the truth of what came before.
Small paws. Big future.
Can a mouse change the course of a new world?
---
Features:
Customize your character
Change the fur and eyes color of your mouse. In the future I am planning to have hats and more items to personalize your character.
Explore the Ashes of Civilization
Traverse rusting machines, crumbling cities, and wild overgrowth. Every corner hides secrets—some useful, some dangerous, and some quietly heartbreaking.
Build a Community, Not Just a Shelter
Recycle old tech, share food, take decisions, and guide your community through choices that shape your society: anarchic freedom, communal living, or organized leadership.
Scavenge, Survive, Sustain
Forage for resources in an ecosystem teetering between renewal and collapse. Sustainability isn’t optional—it’s survival.
Discover Echoes of the Past
From flickering radio terminals to children’s toys and human diaries, piece together what happened to the giants... and what it means for those who remain.
Narrative-Rich and Atmospherically Driven
A haunting, hopeful tale told through emergent gameplay, small choices, and the quiet resilience of those left behind.

Developing the game:
Inspired by the F*ck Capitalism Jam 2025, I started developing my dream game within my favourite game genre - narrative survival, like the last of us (which I am also watching at the moment). Another inspiration to this game is Studio Ghibli and their focus on tiny details of storytelling and aesthetics.
Right now I am only using free assets (under CC 4.0) and paid assets from Unity asset store to develop the game, but in the future I definitely want to add more customized art. As the jam lasts only 1 month I will not be able to create any art for the game as I am more focusing on the gameplay (which is pretty huge as it is for a single developer like me).
For the music and sound design I am also collaborating with YannZ. He is an incredibly talented artist and I recommend you to take a look at his works. You can find more of his amazing work here on his Spotify page.

The future of the game:
This will not be one more unfinished project for a jam! I have the programming abilities to take this further on a long-term roadmap.
I want to continue this project after the end of the jam, so I also created a Patreon page to share more devlogs, ask for ideas and feedback, share development builds and discuss the roadmap of the game. You can join it for free or with a paid subscription at this link: Patreon page. This would definitely help me test new game ideas, help me pay artists to create assets for this game through workshops, as well as also boost my motivation to develop this game!

About me:
I am a geeky solo developer from Italy based in Sweden. I have full-time job, a normal life and in my free time I love creating/developing new fun game ideas. My main skills comprehend music composition (I am a pianist, you can find my music here: Fabrizio Xavier - Spotify), programming in C#, modelling in Blender, developing games with Unity Engine.
My dream is to live of my passions, so developing games and writing soundtracks. In general, I would call myself an anarchist/socialist so this project is "pretty existential" to me.
